FACTS & FIGURES
On April, 1913, the German Army agreed to allow the use of one of its military airships, LZ 9 (Ersatz Z II), for a special three day charity event held in Düsseldorf. The short-lived LZ 9 first flew on October 2, 1911 and decommissioned on August 1, 1914. During the days of the event, LZ 9 carried passengers and mail around Düsseldorf and nearby towns to raise money for the Children’s Aid Fund.
