FACTS & FIGURES
The 8th of March marks International Women's Day (IWD), a day with over a century of history and change behind it. Originally known as International Working Women's Day, its roots lie in the socialist, rather than the feminist, struggle of the early 20th century. In different regions the focus of the celebrations varies from general celebration of respect, appreciation, and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political, and social achievements. Even though it’s started as a socialist political event, the holiday succeeded to blend the culture of many countries.
