In the middle of the Civil War and in a time period with defeat imminent for the Communists, the Zunyi Conference took place and it was proven a pivotal moment in the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC). It was held in January of 1935 in the captured by the Red Army city of Zunyi, a town of military importance in Guizhou of Southwest China during the “Long March”, the epic military retreat undertaken by the Red Army in order to evade the pursuit of the Chinese Nationalist Party’s army. The main agenda of this conference was to examine the Party's failure in the Jiangxi region, where the communists had gotten to the brink of annihilation by the enemy’s forces and to look at new options available to them. Although, there is no denying that this meeting involved a strong power struggle between the official central leadership of Bo Gu (1907 – 1946) and Otto Braun (1900 – 1974), also known as Li De and the opposition led by Mao Zedong (1893 – 1976), under the increasing pressure
