A stamp issued on April 30, 1940 to celebrate the May 1st “Labor Day”. The stamp depicts a medieval knight representing the Wehrmacht defending German Industry and Agriculture. The knight stands between two Runic letters; S and F. The Runic alphabet, was the writing system of uncertain origin used by Germanic peoples of northern Europe, Britain, Scandinavia, and Iceland from about the 3rd century to the 16th or 17th century AD. F (Fehu) is the rune of power and control while S (Sowilo) is a rune of Success and honor but it also symbolizes the Wrath of God.
