On September 9, 1941, the Reichspost issued a stamp depicting the Brandenburg Gate to publicize the ‘Grosser Preis der Reichshauptstadt’ Horse Race (Grand Prix of the Capital of the Reich).
The Grand Prix of Berlin was an annual horse race for four year olds that that took place at the Berlin Hoppegarten Track. The event was established in 1888, and it was originally staged at Hoppegarten as the Grosser Preis von Berlin.
