On August 8, 1942, the Reichspost issued a stamp to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Goldschmiedekunst (German Association for Goldsmiths' Art), a German non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of international contemporary design trends of Jewellery and utensils. Hanau is a town in the Main-Kinzig-Kreis, in Hessen, Germany. It is located 25 km east of Frankfurt am Main. At the end of the 16th century, Count Philipp Ludwig II attracted Protestant refugees from the Netherlands and France to found their own settlement south of Hanau.
