According to the Soviet program of airship construction supervised by Italian General and aeronautical engineer Umberto Nobile (1885-1978), seven airships were planned to be built for the airship squadron named after V.I. Lenin. They would be given the names: ‘Lenin’ (Ленин), ‘Klim Voroshilov’ (Клим Ворошилов), ‘Pravda’ (Правда), ‘Kolkhoznik’ (Колхозник), ‘Staryi Bolshevik' (Старый Большевик), ‘Komsomolets’ (Комсомолец) and ‘Profintern’ (Профинтерн). The first airship from the squadron, CCCP-B6, was initially planned to be completed by the 16th anniversary of the October Revolution (November 1933), but due to multiple difficulties B6 was only completed a year later and made its maiden flight on November 5, 1934.
