FACTS & FIGURES
This set of goldfish stamps, designed by Sun Chuanzhe and Liu Shuoren, was issued on June 1, 1960. Each of the 12 stamps depicts a rare variety of goldfish. The Chinese are considered as the first goldfish breeders since the species was firstly domesticated in China more than a thousand years ago. Goldfish belongs to the carp family that was first found in rivers and lakes. Its golden color is the result of a natural gene mutation. No goldfish contains pigments other than orange, yellow and black. The other colors are blends of these pigments.
