In 1931, Hugo Eckener piloted the Graf on a three-day flight to Iceland (30 June - 3 July) in order to determine its performance in this region. This flight would be another good practice flight in the North performing a strong test before the planned Arctic Expedition Flight (1931 Polarfahrt) later that year.
