FACTS & FIGURES
On August 8, 1942, the Reichspost issued a stamp to celebrate the 1942 SA-Reichswettkämpfe (SA Military Sports Competition). The Sturmabteilung (SA) functioned as the original paramilitary wing of the Nazi Party (NSDAP). The SA incorporated sport into their national educational program and into their paramilitary physical education. Each member of the SA was urged to qualify for the so-called SA-Sportabzeichen (SA-sports badge), which was introduced in November 1933.
