On July 27, 1943 the Reichspost issued two stamps to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Austrian poet and author Peter Rosseger. Peter Rosegger (31 July 1843 – 26 June 1918) was born as the first of seven children of a farmer in the village of Alpl, now part of Krieglach, in the province of Styria.
