According to the Soviet program of airship construction supervised by Italian General and aeronautical engineer Umberto Nobile (1885-1978), seven airships were planned to be built for the airship squadron named after V.I. Lenin. They would be given the names: ‘Lenin’ (Ленин), ‘Klim Voroshilov’ (Клим Ворошилов), ‘Pravda’ (Правда), ‘Kolkhoznik’ (Колхозник), ‘Staryi Bolshevik' (Старый Большевик), ‘Komsomolets’ (Комсомолец) and ‘Profintern’ (Профинтерн). The first airship from the squadron, CCCP-B6, was initially planned to be completed by the 16th anniversary of the October Revolution (November 1933), but due to multiple difficulties B6 was only completed a year later and made its maiden flight on November 5, 1934. It was originally planned to be called ‘Klim Voroshilov’ (Клим Ворошилов), but the name was later changed to "Osoaviakhim" ("СССР-В6 Осоавиахим").
